Founded in 1812, the Academy is the oldest continually operating museum of its kind in the Western Hemisphere. As a world-renowned reasearch institution, the Academy has expansive research collections.

The Academy is a leader in studies of the environment and the ecosystem.

The Academy's Museum has permanent exhibits of dinosaurs, extensive dioramas of animal life, and exhibits of its current research. In addition, the museum also provides space for traveling and educational exhibits.

The Academy provides ongoing educational resources, including interactive lessons and outreach programs. Behind the scene tours are also available, giving the opportunity to talk with museum curators. The Academy is located at 1900 Benjamin Franklin Parkway
